I have been such a bad girl! There is simply less and less time in a twenty-four hour day to fulfill my obligation to this journal.
The class in microeconomics is over and, though I received a "B", received little in the way of knowledge. All courses are not constructed the same. Have already registered for regular economics and a strategic management course that will both begin in about three weeks.
Bryan has been an ever-present guest. Unfortunately, his job at Giordano's is a recent memory. Bryan got another job at the local Subway. This "job" is worse than his last. Minimum wage and no benefits and no set schedule. They constantly call him in to work at the last minute. When he is on the schedule, and shows up to work, more often than not, he is sent home because he is not needed. I feel badly for him. But, at some point in time, he is going to have to pro-actively change his own life. In the meantime, I try not to enable his decisions that I consider disastrous. I continue to extol the merits of a military career - but, I don't think that he is hearing me, yet.
Margaret visited me from last Thursday until her departure yesterday. We had such a wonderful time - we always do. She presented me with a beautiful, framed photograph of Hannah and Bird for my birthday - we even got it hung on the wall. I thought I would feel sad to remember Hannah so often but I find myself smiling instead. I was especially thrilled with the photograph that I bought in support of her creative efforts at her exhibition in May - a lovely flower in profile - strength in simplicity - this, too, was beautifully matted. Then, she treated me to an absolutely unforgettable dinner at Charlie Trotter's restaurant. On Saturday, we went to a jewelry auction where the merchandise was breath-taking and the winning bids were breath-gasping. A Rolex watch went for $16,000 as did some hefty diamond in platinum rings. The values were great but one needs to be prepared financially. We restrained ourselves and left without making any bids.
Last week, my friend, Dorcas, took me to the Goodman Theater when we enjoyed a performance of Bounc.....e! The first half dragged while the second half was full of energy. Still, it's always fun - and healthy - to get out and about.
