More Research Opportunites

So, you know how I said one of my professors from last semester wanted me to be a research assistant for his social anxiety psychology clinic? I’m sure every does because he was the cute 30ish y/o smart dude. And remember how everyone was excited? Like, I remember someone kept asking about my decision to take it or not.

Well, the fact is…I didn’t take it. Just like that FDA Co-op in Washington D.C. And that internship with a medical device company.

I didn’t take it because that’s not what I’m pursuing anymore, and it is more important to focus on the goal ahead be distracted by “cool, educational opportunites.” Well, I think this way may be paying off.

Although it’s not 100% finalized, I think that I may become a research associate with the University of Houston College of Pharmacy studying 1)Pharmacokinetics and Pharmacodynamics of antimicrobials 2) Mathematical modeling and simulation of biological processes 3)Mechanisms of bacterial resistance. The interesting thing though is that there is no way I would have been able to land this “job” if it wouldn’t have been for my engineering experience. How great, right? This sounds fun and interesting to me, so that’s good. Also, the biggest perk about this is that the doctor (of pharmacy) who I will be under is also a faculty member of University of Houston College of Pharmacy, one school that I am very keen about getting into for this time around as for as applying goes. Just think! Getting a letter of reccomendation from not just a professional, but also a personal friend (as according to the eyes of the admission people). Who knows what will happen, but at least I’ll have fun doing it.

But on the other news, sleep deprivation is not fun. 24 hours is a joke for a day!

:)

Your newer research opportunity sounds more exciting than the previous one....expecially since it is more appropriate to your area of interest. Enjoy!

That sounds fun and interesting to me too - congratulations!! Hope it all works out. There's a big problem these days with microbial resistance.
