I Finally Got Caught!

I had the misfortune of receiving a speeding ticket yesterday morning on my way home from work. It has been at least five years since I had received one. I was definitely taken by surprise to be pulled over especially since I wasn't going more than 10 miles over the posted speed limit. Actually I was going 9 miles over the limit. The radar detector didn't aid me at all yesterday. As soon as it went off, it was already too late to slow down. The sneaky highway patrolman had come up from behind me and I know he was a good three quarters of a mile behind me when I was clocked. I didn't have a chance to slow down either.

I was talking to someone at work last night about my speeding ticket. He (Justice) mentioned that I should look into deferred adjudication to have the ticket dismissed. Well, I called the precinct this morning and was told that it would cost $287 to go that route. For that price my ticket would be dismissed as long as I didn't receive any more tickets in the next 30 days. I already reached the conclusion that I'm better off just taking the DDC which will cost $97 for court fees, $10 for the driving record, and $39 to rent the video tape from Movie Gallery.

Darn, what all this means is that I'm going to have to be a very good driver for the next year or risk burning a bigger hole in my pocket.

Happy 4th!!

Hope everyone had a fun filled 4th of July. I started out my day going to Walmart and buying a Scott's drop spreader to apply Scott's Turf Builder with weed control to the front yard.

After all of that was done I was off to Walmart to make several miscellaneous purchases. Mainly, bamboo torches to surround the pool and a few toiletries.

Here it is about 3:30pm and I decided it was pool time. I lazed around in the pool with my ice tea beside me for about an hour. It was restful, cool and relaxing. Oops, time to get out and start making dinner...

...And what a dinner it was! I baked country style pork back ribs w/ barbecue sauce, scalloped potatoes (compliments of Betty Crocker), fried okra, and italian style green beans. I had just enough left over to save for work tomorrow night.

After dinner, we all headed over to MIL's house to watch the fireworks since she lives so close to the base. Actually, that hasn't happened yet, but we are getting ready to leave. So, I have to wrap this entry up and hope everyone replies with how they celebrated the 4th!
