Most people hate rain, hail, cloudy days, humidity, but I don’t really mind it. As opposed to them, I absolutely abhore wind.
It makes my day horrible. I think I know why though. Whenever it is windy, everything flies out of control, like my hair, papers, etc.., and I just hate that loss of control. I would rather opt for rain (of course without the wind) than something really windy. I went running tonight, and it was horribly windy. I think I had to stop at least 5 times because something flew in my eye. It was quite painful/irritating. It was even more windy when I going up a pretty steep hill, and I think my knee hurts as a result of it. My hair was in my eyes, and I couldn’t see.
Sure you’re thinking->they make windbreakers…why don’t you wear one of those? But you know what? That can’t protect you from everything. I think they need to make some sort of wind umbrella. I would buy it.
Okay. That’s all.
I wonder what everyone elses weather pet peaves are. I know my mom’s is the cold. I THINK WE ALL KNOW THAT. What are yours?
Posted by Courtney at April 6, 2005 06:53 PMI think everyone knows I hate the heat. If the temperature would stay around 75 all day, all year long I would love it.
Posted by: Theresa on April 6, 2005 10:14 PMAs one whose major mode of transpo is hew own two feet, I hate it when it rains. Everything gets wet no matter what size the umbrella. And most people have awful "brolly" manners. Snow is groovy, wind a mild peeve..but rain drives me nuts when I have to be out and about.
Posted by: Mermu on April 6, 2005 10:23 PMThat's an interesting thing to know about you, that you don't like not being in control. A little insight about why you're heading the MD route! Have you ever considered just giving yourself over to the wind and going with it instead of fighting it?
(I can't help it . . . abhor, peeves . . . it's a curse.)
Boy are you right about your mom's pet peeve. When Dale spent the night there in January for his doctor's appointment, he woke up gasping for air because of the heat in that TV room upstairs. Luckily Matt was there to turn it down for him, and then he opened the window for a while to try to get some fresh air. I think if she just wore the right clothes it would be better for her; I was much more sensitive to the cold until I met Dale and he showed me how to dress for it and deal with it properly.
Posted by: Elizabeth on April 6, 2005 10:28 PMDale, btw, says to get some jogging glasses or at least run with sunglasses. Practical man, my darling.
Posted by: Elizabeth on April 6, 2005 10:29 PMYeah, they also have these things called "hats" that might help with the hair situation.
Posted by: stepan on April 7, 2005 12:59 AMI can't think of any weather condition that I abhor. I've always had a high tolerance for heat and I rarely notice humidity (though occassionally it does get to me). I adore thunderstorms (which are usually fairly windy) and I'm fascinated by hail (probably would be less so if I had to park my car outside). I will concede that I'm not a huge fan of extremely cold weather - I don't mind visiting it, but I certainly wouldn't want to live in it.
Posted by: Jenny on April 7, 2005 01:00 AMi think that i'm ok with all kinds of weather (as long as i'm inside during the bad kinds, like storms and such) i don't enjoy being cold that much, but that is usually remedied by clothing. it annoys me when the a/c in my dorm room or house is turned down really low (i know i can turn it up and i do, but while its warming back up its annoying) cuz i can't focus on schoolwork or whatever, just about the coldness of the room.
on a random pet peeve note:i hate seeing ppl who are double jointed do the weird things that they can do.
